چکیده

Purposive sampling surveys were conducted in homestead gardens and ornamental nurseries at different localities of Thrissur Ernakulam districts during 2017-19 to study the diversity spider mites associated with plants. Mite samples collected from rose, adenium, gerbera, marigold, chrysanthemum, balsam, cock’s comb, orchid, cassia, cairo morning glory, zinnia, bauhinia, crape jasmine pinto peanut maintained as isoline cultures laboratory. Male female specimens isolines slide mounted for morphological characterisation identification. The results revealed eight species belonging three genera viz., Tetranychus truncatus Ehara, T. okinawanus urticae Koch, fijiensis Hirst, neocaledonicus Andre, marianae McGregor, Eutetranychus orientalis Klein Oligonychus biharensis Hirst. recorded new hosts alien species, which suggests potential these turn invasive Kerala’s ecosystems. mite fauna on rose was more diverse, indicating need imposing strict quarantine regulations. observed a record Kerala.

"Inert" formulation ingredients with activity: toxicity of trisiloxane surfactant solutions to twospotted spider mites (Acari: Tetranychidae).

Organosilicone molecules are important surfactant ingredients used in formulating pesticides. These methylated silicones are considered inert ingredients, but their superior surfactant properties allow them to wet, and either suffocate or disrupt important physiological processes in mites and insects. Aqueous solutions of the tri-siloxane surfactants Silwet L-77, Silwet 408, and Silwet 806 were...

Evaluation of predatory mite (Acari: Phytoseiidae) releases to suppress spruce spider mites, Oligonychus ununguis (Acari: Tetranychidae), on juniper.

A laboratory trial evaluated four phytoseiid species for their potential as biological control agents of spruce spider mite, Oligonychus ununguis (Jacobi) (Acari: Tetranychidae). An augmentative biological control approach, using the predatory mites Neoseiulus fallacis Garman and Galendromus occidentalis Nesbitt (Acari: Phytoseiidae), was evaluated for reducing pest mite densities and injury, a...

BIOLOGICAL AND MICROBIAL CONTROL Plant-Related Factors Influence the Effectiveness of Neoseiulus fallacis (Acari: Phytoseiidae), a Biological Control Agent of Spider Mites on Landscape Ornamental Plants

The predatory mite Neoseiulus fallacis (Garman) was evaluated as a biological control agent of herbivorous mites on outdoor-grown ornamental landscape plants. To elucidate factors that may affect predator efÞciency, replicated tests were conducted on 30 ornamental plant cultivars that varied in relationship to their generalized morphology (e.g., conifers, shade trees, evergreen shrubs, deciduou...
